How does your family do Santa?

This is something that fascinates me every year. How does your family do Santa? Leave a comment and let me know!

We have a few presents under the tree from Santa (our Santa doesn't wrap presents) and then he also fills up the stocking.

Growing up every present under the tree was from Santa.

My mother in law had presents under the tree from Santa starting in early December. He would deliver the wrapped presents while the kids were at school. I should ask my husband if Santa returned to their house on Christmas Eve too.

My sister doesn't do Santa at all. She felt betrayed by Santa when she was younger and decided it wasn't something she wanted her son to go through.

Her boyfriend is from England and they have Father Christmas there. But Father Christmas just delivered the presents his parents had bought on Christmas Eve. Kind of like Santa the UPS man.

Everyone does Santa different. How do you do it?

we dont do santa either. he's an imaginary figure like easter bunny, and tooth fairy. dont want our kids to think God is not real , when they get a bit bigger and discover all these other "people" you cant see are not real.

Great post! My family did it similar to yours. Mom would have the biggest present from Santa. However, this present would be opened and set up, ready for us to play when we woke up. I also loved we would set out cookies and in the morning there would be crumbs leading to the door (we had no chimney)... amazing since mom's a neat freak! Love Christmas...

Lovin the "Sant the UPS man"!! LOL!

I do Christmas just as my mother did. Santa comes on Christmas Eve while they're sleeping and leaves stuff in their stockings and wrapped presents under the tree to open on Christmas morning. We leave out cookies & milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. I think it's been so much fun to see how excited my little one is on Christmas morning. My family back home did this until my mother passed away last year and I've never felt betrayed or doubted God because Santa isn't real. ;-) I plan to keep it up until my boys move out, too.

Most of the kids' presents come from Santa. He leaves them unwrapped, and then we wrap them (hence the matching wrapping paper). We always leave cookies & milk the night before which I am only too happy to take care of. We also track Santa's movements at NORAD. I always have a direct line to Santa during December. My kids are very well behaved during this time. ;)

Santa delivers all the presents to the kiddos on Christmas Eve while they are sleeping. Sometimes he fills the stockings depending on how Mommy feels. We leave out cookies and milk for Santa too.

Mom and Dad's presents start showing up a few days after the tree goes up. Santa is the same here as at Kristin's house. He comes in after the kids go to bed on Christmas Eve and leaves the big unwrapped gifts and fills the stockings. When I was growing up Santa would sometimes leave gifts all December and sometimes would leave them all Christmas Eve. My mom was not very good at keeping up traditions...

I played "santa" one year for my neighbor since they were at a relatives over the Holidays. So when the kids got home "santa" had visited. These were little kids. She told me that Santa gets very mess when putting candy in the stockings and makes a trail of candy from the cookies to the tree and back to the stocking. The room looked really magically and fun once Santa had visited.

Oh I do santa. Last year mommy and daddy didn't buy any gifts for our daughter because we had to move 4 days before Christmas so the gifts were all sat out under the tree and her stocking was FULL.

This year Mommy will give presents and Santa will leave unwrapped gifts under the tree and fill stockings. That's what Santa did at my house every year growing up and I NEVER Doubted God's existance AND I was not raised in church.

My mother in law hates Christmas and doesn't like to give gifts because she spends all the money she makes on soda and cigarettes for herself...among other things...so last year when we lived with her she told my 14 month old daughter that God is a myth and Santa isn't real. Thank the good Lord I am now living with my dad and not there.

Santa leaves one joint present for all the kids to share at our house and then puts a few little things in each stocking. We leave early Christmas morning to go out of state to the in-laws so our "Santa" comes while we are at church or out Christmas Eve that way the kids get a little play time in that night before we have to head out of town.

My kids are now "too big for Santa". When they were younger, Santa left 2 or 3 presents and filled the stockings on Christmas Eve. We left out cookies and milk for him and hay and carrots for the reindeer. Everything would be eaten (or partially eaten) and Santa would leave a sooty bootprint or 2 in front of the fireplace. One year, the reindeer left prints on our porch (goats' hooves are close enough for kids-lol!)- the kids were SO excited! also, my Mom would pay for the kids to get letters from Santa. They don't hate us now that they know he's not real- they have very fond memories.

we don't make Santa a big issue, but he is around. they write a letter with what they want, and Santa brings one of those things and fills their stocking. mom and dad do the rest.

We love Christmas at our house. Presents from Mom and dad go under the tree wrapped. Usuallly not till the week before Christmas so as not to add to tempation...Santa comes on Christmas eve and eats our cookies and eggnog! He leaves unwrapped presents and fills the stockings.
When I was a kid we could look through our stockings and play with the Santa stuff and waited for everyone to join before we opened the gifts from the family.
To me Santa is magical...and its magic to watch my kids faces light up on Chrismtas morning. But we also try and give to others (toys for tots etc.) and my kids help pick out those toys to help them learn about GIVING at Christmas not just Getting:)

In our Christian home (brought up as a preachers kid and now a preachers wife), Santa has always come Christmas Eve (as tradition has it) and leaves a few gifts for each child. My parents would buy a couple and my grandparents always put in some they had bought for us as well. We played with our toys and got our stockings (filled by santa) and waited for the relatives to show up to open gifts. Now my sisters and I are grown, married and there are two 1 year olds in the family. We do the same thing but play games on Christmas eve, such as dirty santa and gingerbread house competitions (made with honey grams over orange juice boxes). It's a great guaranteed family occasion :D

side note:
My sister and I never were confused when it came to God and santa. We never really believed santa to be real. We just went along with the fun :D - but everyone is different when it come to traditions! :D HAPPY FUN DAYS AHEAD TO ALL!!

We don't do Christmas at all here. LOL I think the closest thing we have to a big celebration is Disney, that is our family tradition :D- and why I love this blog.

on a side note, wehave5sons- I had never thought of that being an added benefit to our skipping Christmas- good food for thought.

To all though have fun with whatever celebration/tradition your family does!

(And thanks to all you Christmas celebrating folk for pushing the stores to have such good deals this time of year)

Santa leaves several gifts - almost always wrapped in his own "special" gift wrap. Yes, I keep track and wrap them differently. It's only left unwrapped if it's HUGE like a bike. Santa fills the stockings too. We leave cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer (thank goodness our dog goes nuts for raw carrots - hey it's Xmas for him too!).

We celebrate with Santa coming on Christmas eve. Jessica is the only one who receives 1 gift. I always wrap it in special paper and have a special tag which I write her name and his name in block letters. She leave Cookies for Santa and Veggies for the reindeer. Jessica is 14 and is the only child, my nephew is like her big brother he is 20 so he never ruined it for her. I honestly feel that she still believes. She writes him a letter every year she never once questioned him to me.

we don't do Santa either, we are from germany and we celebrate St. Nikolaus ( kind of like santa Claus) on Dec 6th and the kids have to clean their shoes and put them outside, now at home on Dec 6th you have St. Nikolaus ( Santas) walking down the street everywhere and you put gifts in your childs shoes and nuts and fruits and tell the that santa put them there for the good kids, and if you found cole in your shoe you knew you had been bad and are in trouble,..lol.. now x-mas eve we all go to church and during service the christmas angel arrives and droped off all the presents and that's when we kids saw the x-mas tree for the first time when they christmas angels rings a bell and lets us into the christmas ( living room) room, now we always had to count till 10 after we hear the bell to give the angel enough time to leave... I soo miss this, I do as much of the tradition as I can with my kids here in Florida, we do celebrate christmas on christmas eve and the christmas angel brings the presents and not santa claus.... oh lord, soo much in my message already... I have soo much more..but will stop now...

Is Santa not real? You all make him sound made up! LOL Just Joking, Santa at our house goes OVERBOARD due to the fact that I love deals and love to spoil my kids! (They are only kids once!) No present from Santa is wrapped. He comes on Christmas Eve, but we have a magic elf that visits from Thanksgiving to Christmas that brings small occasional gifts too, but mainly is just mischeivious. The kids cannot go in the living room or even look in their stocking without the entire family in there, I want to see the look on their faces when they see it all. We do leave out the cookies and milk for Santa and even sprinkle reindeer food outside for them while they wait on Santa. I don't want Santa to get all of the credit in my kids eyes and I have been questioned if certain children are bad because they had a MUCH smaller Christmas than my children, so my children know that Mommy has to pay Santa for every gift he brings them except for one. God Bless you all! We are a 1/2 Catholic/ 1/2 Baptist Family that believes we wouldn't be here and have what we do if it weren't for the good Lord.

We do NOT do Santa at all. My parents actually played it up really big when I was little. When I found out the TRUTH, I remember sitting at church wondering if they made up this JESUS too just to try and get us to act good as well. I seriously thought it was just another ploy for them to get us to behave good. I speak the TRUTH to my children and could not LIE to them. I am a black and white kind of person, and lying is lying. This may upset many of you, but the Bible says not to LIE, so I am not going to lie just to have some entertainment at Christmas or any other holiday.
