When none of you are getting an award for having it. That's my trophy!! I am 43 and had it about a month ago. But here is the important thing my Dr told me. I thought it was good to rinse the eye while in the shower. NO NO NO!!!! He said that the water is full of bacteria and so is the shower head. So don't rinse it in the shower. Unless of course he said...you use bottled water.
When I was pregnant 2 years ago (I was 27) I got pink eye from being sick. I couldn't/wouldn't take anything for it because I was pregnant. The doctor said it was because I was recently sick with some kind of sinus infection. I got pink eye the day before Christmas Eve (I guess 2 years ago exactly today), and was due to have 25 people over for Christmas Eve dinner. That was a mess! It was the first time I had EVER had pink eye!
If you haven't already heard this tip, take a dot of baby shampoo on your fingers suds it up and massage from the top of your eyelid down and then rinse. My eye doctor told me to do this.
Pink eye has no age threshold. I do think it is connected to contact lens wearers. I have gotten it occasionally for years. I discard all my eye makeup, discard my contact lenses, and wash my eye make up brushes in hot water with baby shampoo. It goes away in a few days of wearing my eyeglasses.
I am sure if I washed my eye makeup brushes with greater frequency, I would lessen the number of times I got pink eye.
I feel your pain! I had it when I was 40-41 and it was so nasty everyone would look at me and make THAT face! You know what face I am talking about too. I never washed my hands so much in all my life. I am thankful it happened though - I never took the time to see an opthamalogist until then(only went to an optometrist for glasses). Discovered I had "dry-eye" and did a full workup so if anything happens going forward we will catch it early. Your vision is priceless - treat it that way. Speedy healing to you...
I kept getting it because of my birth control. My eye doctor said that sometimes the pills can dry your eyes out. Sorry, I know it is awful. I am 34 I was getting it every month for 3 months!
My hubby who is 27 had it a few months ago. He caught it from my daughter who got it from a daycare kiddo. He couldn't work for 2 days since he works in a hospital.
I am 34 and have never had it. My daughter is 5 and she got it last year in both eyes, and was pretty miserable for a couple days. My mom gets it sometimes too because she is a kindergarten teacher. Sorry to hear that you got it. That really stinks. I hope you feel better!
I refuse to leave my name because I'm sure I'm going to get eww eww comments, BUT... when my son had pink eye-on two different occasions-I put breast milk in his eye every hour, and it went away that same night. I didn't get it, but would have done the same thing for myself. You can't get more frugal-or natural-than that.
Before I became a mommy I worked in Industrial Collections, one of my co-workers always got pink eye (she was at least 40). Don't forget to disinfect your keyboard and phone. It's highly contagious. Hope you are better soon!
1. Holy cow you are a youngin'!!! I thought you were certainly much older! 2. OK GROSS! LOL! I know I know.. you can't always help it and NO YOU DONT GET IT FROM FECAL making its way to your eye, but that is kinda like posting "I have the stomach flu"... you poor thing! I hope it gets better soon. Careful using your keyboard.. make sure your hands are clean each time you touch the computer or else you will certainly get it again!

I've had pink eye about 6 times in the last 6 months and I'm 36. Never had it before that. Seems to be connected to the contacts...

I work for an Ophthamologist and ANYONE can get pink eye!!!
See your doctor... (I like the breast milk idea, I've heard of that, not in the eye though, but on cuts and such, my doc would NOT recommend it)
