We have booked our Disney vacation!

It's done! I just booked our Disney vacation! We arrive at Disney on May 22nd and we leave on June 2nd!

Here are the details:

2 adults, 2 kids
11 nights at Pop Century
10 day tickets with no park hopper (you can add that at any time)
No dining plan

Total =
$2,025

I also made our first dining reservation. Chef Mickey's on Memorial Day at 10:15 am. We did breakfast there last time and loved it!

I'm so excited! A little shocked since it's officially booked and that means that this is real!

We decided to stay for longer because my husband can piggy back his vacation and because the fund is growing so fast, why not? ;)

You have done a great job with setting a goal and making it a reality. YOU GO GIRL!!!! Yahoo!
Our trip will be in June 2010!

Congratulations!! Why did you decide not to get the dining plan? I was just wondering because I have heard others recommend it. We have not taken a trip to Disney with our kids yet so I always ask for pros/cons. :)

Yay...Good for you guys. By the time we learned about the family friendly resorts we already had four young children, which makes it not so economical.

We went in with my in-laws to buy a timeshare in Orlando, which makes trips to Disney so much more budget friendly. There is six of us plus the in-laws makes 9

We will be in Orlando June 4th just as you leave.

Maybe one year we'll get to meet up with you guys.

Congrats! That's awesome! I live in Orlando, and I am a huge Disney and Universal fan, let me know if you have any questions about the area or the theme parks, I'd be happy to help you..

Yay for you! Pop is our favorite hotel. I am planning to book our trip in the next month or so (with the hope that I will receive a nice pin code some time this year, too). I will start saving money for it in earnest come January!

Good for you on booking the trip to Disney! I look at your site daily and am going to start tracking my savings starting 1/1.

If anyone has the mail in rebates Kristen talked about on her page and wants to trade them for coupons or tops for education I am willing to trade.

Merry Christmas!

I was also wondering about the dining plan. My family went in Oct 2009, and the dining plan helped alot or at least I thought it did. I'm eager to find out why you decided against it.

Woo Hoo for you!

About the dining plan, we do better without it. We have been over 20 times in the past few years and I've never thought it was cost effective. We don't eat enough food to warrant buying it and also on some of the character dining experiences it takes 2 table credits instead of 1. A lot of times if we are trying to cut costs we carry our backpack in with sandwiches and chips. In Epcot we like to snack (and drink) all the way around the world, and we never would use a dine in table service on that day. Breakfast is generally a fast bowl of cereal and some fruit in our room before we go out. If you want more information about the pro's and con's of the dining plan listen to the archives of the WDW Today podcasts and they discuss this topic frequently. I also like to look at the menu's on AllEars.Net and weigh my costs out if there are places we want to dine(most of the menu's are up-to-date and have current prices). I've never once had the dining plan turn out to be more cost effective. I suggest you calculate what you want from these menus versus what the dining plan costs and see if it works out for you. Planning is everything for Disney, think about everything in advance and you will save money!

Great job!! I just left Pop Century
Resort yesterday. My family and I had a wonderful time there. We did 3 days at 3 parks and stayed 3 nights and got the dining plan for 2 days. Merry Christmas to you and your family :)

congrats! the only time we have done the dining plan is with free dining- but for us, it doesn't pay off unless it's free. We never use all of the snack or counter service credits and then go over on the table service. We end up w/ dessert when we don't want or need it and still have to pay tip off however much we would have spent, but we'd never spend that much w/o it being free. does that make sense?
We LOVE pop though- have stayed 3 times, and I'm doing crazy saving for our next disney trip as well. For the first time we are taking a year off- but then after 2 years of saving, we're going Deluxe!!!! woohoo!
