Reminder: No mail on Columbus Day
I have bad news for all the mail lovers like me out there. Columbus Day is a federal holiday which means there will be no mail for us. Sad.
I have a routine, I wake up, open the blinds in my den, scope out to see which one of my neighbor's have their flag up, and watch for the mail man. Anytime a car drives by (he drives a regular van) I look to see if it's him. Whenever I leave my chair to do something when I return I have to walk out the front door and look up and down the street to see if the flag(s) are still up. After I see he delivers the mail, I stand at the door and count to 50 before I open the door and race the mail box. I don't want him to think I'm some kind of mail freak.

OMGosh, I am the same way! My DH will tease me and run out to the mailbox before me on his days off, and wave the mail just out of my reach. ROFL
How funny! I stalk my mail lady too. LOL PS I'm loving your blog!! Thanks for all that you do to keep this going. Our family has never taken a "real" vacation - we tend to visit family. But, thanks to your blog, I see it IS possible! Can't wait to make our vacation dream a reality. :D
LOL, you aren't alone! When our mailman zips by the opposite side of the street as the mailboxes, I know I have 30 minutes before he gets to our mailbox. He usually drives by the opposite side anywhere from 11:30-12:30, and I'm usually in the kitchen around that time. So whenever I hear a car go by around that time (it's a pretty quiet street), I quick glance out my window to see if it's him so I know when to check the mail. And then as soon as he delivers the mail, I walk out there. I don't wait 50 seconds. :)
