Our 2009 Trip to Walt Disney World

At the beginning of 2008, I made the resolution to become more dedicated to using coupons. I actually stuck to that resolution and by the end of the year I had saved well over $5000 by using coupons. We found a buy 4 days, get 3 days free coupon for Disney World and we decided we could afford to take our family to Disney NOW instead of later.




The cost for a trip for a family of 4 (2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant) was $2100. That included 9 nights at the Disney Resort, Pop Century, 8 days of Park Hopper tickets, and the Dining Plan (1 Table Service, 1 Counter Service, 1 Snack a day). After gas, food and souvenirs our trip total came to just shy of $2500. Less than half of the money I had saved using coupons!

The 6 month mark

Today is exactly 6 months since I started saving towards the Disney fund. Before I say anything else, I need to make a deposit. I got $14 from Mindfield. $1807.51 cash saved since June 1st! That means I met my first goal!

I am absolutely blown away at how quickly the Disney fund has grown. I started saving on June 1st and that first $100 dollars came so slow. But since then, it has grown so fast! And I haven't even been as diligent about it as I had intended to be. (Life keeps getting in the way of the Disney fund).

So what's next? Well my goal was to save $1800 by being a Smart Shopper. The rest of the cost of the trip would of come from my husband's bonus in the spring. However, it looks like I am going to be able to save for the whole thing by being a Smart Shopper!

Our first trip cost us $2600. So I am going to set the new goal at $2600 by 5/20 (the day before we leave!).

BIG MAJOR DEPOSIT TO MY DISNEY FUND!

I am so excited about this deposit! I wanted to share one of my favorite pictures from our May 2009 trip with you for it. Yep! That is my daughter dancing with Prince Charming on her 5th birthday. You can't get any more magical than that!

So here goes...

I've had quite a few rebate checks roll in over the past 2 weeks. I've just set them to the side until I had enough to make this post.

Today is payday so I took the opportunity to count what money I had left from last week's budget and add it to the fund.

I had $5 from Saturday morning when I really wanted to go out for breakfast and instead I forced myself to make muffins. Since I would of spend it, I put it in the fund instead.

$7 in loose change. (Remember I get cash out for all my weekly expenses and I break dollars instead of using exact change.)
